The light sabers illuminating the set, Fastow's raptors in the basement chowing down secret debt, and the harsh treatment meted out to the one woman who dares crash this boys' club all go some way - all lend possible answers to the demise of Enron.

1. Tate Modern

Tate Modern is located on the south bank of the River Thames at Bankside, near Blackfriars Bridge, opposite St Paul's Cathedral and next to the Globe Theatre. Take tube to St. Pauls cross the millennium pedestrian bridge—gorgeous walk.

See the Opened in 2000, this gallery has amazed industry insiders, art lovers and tourists and detractors are few and far between. The museum, located among the drab, concrete blocks of Bankside, has few of its original features; it used to be a 1950's power station. Grand inside, there are many innovative and attention-grabbing works, with a variety from 1900 to the present, from the most important artists of the century to today's rising stars. The building itself is huge and incredible. Some of the best views of St.Pauls and the city. The restaurants are worth a trip on their own. 2. Horniman Museum

Daily 10.30am - 5.30pm Entrance to the Museum and Gardens is FREE.

An anthropological museum set in 16 acres of landscaped gardens, the Horniman Museum has a traditional natural history gallery - dominated by a bizarre, overstuffed walrus - where the exhibits are displayed in traditional cases with no computer touch-screens in sight.
Sneak down to Forest Hill for what might be (whisper it) London’s best museum – the Horniman.
Skeletons, pickled animals, model insects and Egyptian mummies, and the star attraction – an enormous (over-) stuffed walrus. Don’t miss the mesmerising jellyfish in the new aquarium or the Apostles clock chiming at 4pm. Horniman Museum, 100 London Rd, SE23 www.horniman.ac.uk). Forest Hill Rail.

3. Museum of London

Museum open daily and is FREE! Monday to Sunday: 10am-6pm

Last admission: 5.30pm

Seriously, way more interesting than it sounds! The history of London, from prehistoric times to the present, told through reconstructed interiors and street scenes, alongside displays of original artifacts found during the museum's archaeological digs. Interactive and cool exhibits and the home to the Centre for Human Bioarchaeology is part of the London Archaeological Archive and Research Centre-that curates the Museum of London's extensive holdings of human remains

4. Sir John Soane’s Museum

Open free: Tuesday to Saturday inclusive, 10-5. Also on the first Tuesday evening of each month, 6-9 pm. Closed Sunday, Monday, Bank holidays. One of the most fascinating collections in the world. Sir John Soane lived in this house until his death--collecting paintings, antiquities, drawing and oddities. A genius architect, his home is an architectural maze of rooms from the elegant to the bizarre. There is even a sarcophagus in the basement. There is a special candlelit opening on the first Tuesday evening of each month, 6-9pm. Last entry for this is 8:30pm. 5. The Clink Prison Museum

Open 7 days a week 10:00 - 21:00 Student ticket £3.50

This eerie museum is built upon the original site of the Clink Prison dating back to 1144 making it one of England’s oldest if not the oldest prison. Visitors will experience a hands-on educational exhibition allowing the handling of original artifacts including torture devices and along with the opportunity to view and hear the amazing stories of the inmates and the notorious Southbank. Crime and the punishment of criminals has been a social debate for hundreds of years--Be able to join the debate through learning how inmates were treated and the conditions they lived in. 6. The Benjamin Franklin House

The Historical Experience Show runs at 12, 1pm, 2pm, 3.15pm and 4.15pm Wednesday through Sunday all year round. 7 pounds.

In the heart of London, just steps from famed Trafalgar Square, is Benjamin Franklin House, the world's only remaining Franklin home. For nearly sixteen years between 1757 and 1775, Dr Benjamin Franklin - scientist, diplomat, philosopher, inventor, Founding Father of the United States and more - lived behind its doors. Benjamin Franklin House, built circa 1730, is now open to the public as a dynamic museum and educational facility. The Historical Experience presents the excitement and uncertainty of Franklin's London years using rooms where so much took place as staging for a drama which seamlessly integrates live performance, cutting edge lighting, sound and projection technology. From Charing Cross: Turn left out of the main station entrance, and make another left onto Craven Street - look for the plaque commemorating Franklin's residence in the House.

7. Dickens Museum

The Museum is open daily from 10.00-17.00 Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.

A hidden gem, it's easy to miss the only surviving London house where Dickens lived, from 1837-1839. The world's most important collection of material relating to the great Victorian novelist and social commentator. There are four floors of Dickens material in this townhouse, decorated as it would have been during his tenancy, from posters advertising his public speaking to rare editions of his work. 8. The Women’s Library

Access is free and open to everyone. The Reading Room is open Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm. On Thursdays the Reading Room is open from 9.30 to 8pm, Saturday hours are 10.00am to 4.00 pm. The Women's Library houses the most extensive collection of women's history in the UK. Established in 1926, the Women's Library the home of major collection of women's history including posters, banners, books, magazines, photographs and other materials celebrating the women's lives they document. 9. Dennis Severs' House

A critics choice museum—Very limited opening times:

Is a one-of-a-kind experience—a time capsule attraction in which visitors are immersed in a unique form of theatre. The ten rooms of this original Hugeuenot house have been decked out to recreate snapshots of life in Spitalfields between 1724 and 1914. An escorted tour through the compelling 'still-life drama', as American creator Dennis Severs put it, takes you through the cellar, kitchen, dining room, smoking room and upstairs to the bedrooms. With hearth and candles burning, smells lingering and objects scattered apparently haphazardly, it feels as though the inhabitants had deserted the rooms only moments before. 10. Hunterian Museum

Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Interested in medicine, surgery, the body. Thousands of medical specimens and cases of surgical instruments is fascinating. It’s not gruesome-the space is super-stylish, with glass specimen jars displayed neatly along clean glass shelves. The best exhibits are pickled organs from soldiers who fought in the Battle of Waterloo, Winston Churchill’s dentures and the skeleton of the 'Irish giant'. The Hunterian Museum is located inside The Royal College of Surgeons of England, 35-43 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, WC2A 3PE. CHELSEA LONDON - OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Chelsea is a beautiful area of London with two great underground stations nearby-Sloane Square and South Kensington both are on the Circle/District line. Chelsea is an ideal location and is bordered by some of the nicest parts of London.

Come nightfall Chelsea is populated by a young crowd—and celebrity sightings are commonplace. Chelsea is also home to the beautiful Physic Garden and two of London’s best museums, the V&A and the Natural History Museum making this a popular destination for tourists.

Beautiful Sloane Square, Harrod’s and the Knightsbridge shopping district are nearby as well. Chelsea is also known for splendidly chic boutiques, exquisite specialty shops, patisseries, and hundreds of charming eighteenth and nineteeth century houses. Kings Road is still one of the most popular streets in London and is busy day and night.

Most shops on the King's Road are small, with smart fashionable bars and restaurants jostling for space in between. Glorious 18th and 19th century buildings abound housing many artistic and literary names just as they have done through the centuries. Chelsea is indeed one of London's most delightful residential areas and the ideal place for a stroll on a summer's day. What's more, if you're around in the evening you may well bump into the future King of England: Prince William has taken something of a shine to the exclusive restaurants and bars in the area!
Lower Chelsea is also known for its music scene, cool coffee shops, sidewalk cafes, and vintage resale boutiques.

Leadership Londoners stay in IES Student Housing located just off the King's Road in Chelsea. This location is ideal for travel to and from all of London's sites and provides students with superb quality city center accommodations in a highly secure, comfortable environment.

Where we study: London London is an international city like no other. London has a commitment to diversity, sustainability and responsible development.

Where we live in London: Chelsea, London Chelsea is near the river Thames and only minutes away from everything. Chelsea has been the residential location for artists, musicians, writers, actors, monarchs and scoundrels of all sorts. It is a fun, beautiful and convenient location from which to explore London's major sites and attractions.

What we study: Leadership--Interdisciplinary Approach/Social and Cultural Contexts This is not a 'how to' be a leader type of course. You don't have to leave town to get the 7 habits of effective people lecture. This course is so much more. It is analytical and applied and uses cases of success and failure to critically explore the many forms that leader/follower relationships may take. Further, we unflinchingly examine the consequences of various forms of leadership, short and long term. The goal is to apply the knowledge we gain from the study of leadership to our lives, actions and evaluations of leaders.

How we study: Seminar/Discussion, Site Based Learning Most of the 'air time' in class is for the students! While the instructors facilitate, the discussions are student driven and centered. We have class in the mornings and then go on adventures in London during the afternoons and sometimes the evenings. These adventures relate directly to our examination of leadership and leaders. London serves as the main text for the class--its rich history of leadership, invention, and social and cultural change provide the perfect setting for the study of leadership.

Cost: Program Fee is $3025.00 This includes a lot--Housing in central London for three weeks, all site visits, tours and guides associated with the program, internet access in room if you bring your laptop, course textbooks and readings!

What is not included: your plane ticket to and from London, your meals (there are full kitchens in our housing facility if you want to economize), your passport, tuition, your own personal expenses and travel (many students hop over by train or plane to France, Holland, Scotland, Ireland or other exciting destination on two, three day weekends during the program. Weekend travel is fairly cheap because of student travel deals offered in summer months. But, there is plenty to do for cheap or FREE in and around London if you don't want to travel on the weekends. I will post this sort of stuff before the trip so you can plan your weekends in advance.

Just a sample of the fun & educational things we do in London:

The Tube, cool Red Buses and the famous Black Cabs--the most famous and user friendly underground system in the world. The coolest buses and there are so many--and those blast from the past black cabs! ALL Aboard to London!

Westminster Abbey--no trip to London would be complete without seeing this historic giant--see the coronation chair, graves a plenty and graves of the early kings and queens

Tower of London--Beef Eaters, The ravens and crown jewels--need I say more! Okay, I will--Queen Elizabeth I was imprisoned here as a young girl--saved by her wits!

Templar Church and Inns of Court (Legal London) We will go to the temple-- the one from the Da Vinci code--where Templar Knights are buried in the floor--watch your step. We will see what it means to be called to the bar and why their lawyers still wear wigs in court.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre -- Experience Shakespeare the way it is meant to be! This is so dang awesome!

Abbey Road and Apple Records--yes, I will take you there and you can snap the famous pose the Beatles imprinted on our psyches--but after, we will have to go to Freud's house to clear our heads. You may initially ask what this has to do with leadership--and the answer is--interestingly as you will see, a lot!

Greenwich to the Prime Meridian--the boat ride to Greenwich is phenomenal and where else can you have one foot in the western and one in the eastern hemisphere? Well, lots of places--but, that is the best one!

Down House--Home of Charles Darwin in Kent and this is actually where he did it--conducted his experiments and wrote Origin. This is like time travel--only without that darn time/space continuum problem.

Legal London and Temple Church--we will now know what it means to be called to the bar and we will see a Templar church with the knights buried in the floor. -- watch your step.

Freud Museum and Home --See the couch! Spend the afternoon getting to the bottom of psychoanalysis--in what many agree is one of the most idyllic settings.

Hindi Temple -- a honest to goodness Hindi mandir sitting smack dab in the middle of London---a great place to PEACE OUT. you won't beileve how magnificent this place is...

Hampton Court Palace--Henry did all of his sweet talking--and incarcerating wives here at the palace. The gardens, the royal maze and royal tennis courts are stunning.

Historic Graves--Karl Marx, Herbert Spencer, TS Eliot and more... it is a bit creepy to visit a cemetary--but, you know what, this is way off the beaten path and so unbelievably unspoiled--
you will love it. But, again, watch your step.

British Museum--The Rosetta Stone (not the software--the
actual stone and mummies and just stuff you won't believe--and well, this museum holds the reading rooms where many great intellectuals
of the 1800's toiled away--when they weren't at the Museum Pub across the street.

Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms A bunker in the middle

of London--WWII was actually executed from these bunkers--

hidden under the streets of London. The interactive museum is a must visit! You won't believe how cool it is!

Cambridge The beauty, the history, the intellectual contributions...this place is famous for a reason (88 Nobel Laureates---can you spell DNA, Watson and Crick spelled it out here).

AND SO MUCH MORE....(Freud, Radical London Walk, Jack the Ripper, London Eye and soaking up the flavours and culture of London--not hard to see why so many artists, intellectuals, musicians and politicos have made their lives in London)

Well, it is September and believe it or not it is time to gear up for another fabulous year of TCU Leadership London. This blog is the place where I will keep those who care to read posted on important details about the upcoming trip to London with TCU students.

For more than a decade I have been taking fantabulous college students to London and we have painted the town and learned a heck of lot about leadership to boot. Some of the pictures and information posted here will reflect our bawdy and laudy times together and give those of you who will be going next year in 2010 a sense of the AWESOMENESS that is LONDON.

AND YES WE ALL BECOME ANGLOPHILES EVENTUALLY!
